Our Dogs Search for Lost and Missing Persons
MSSARDA is a non-profit volunteer group. Members are solely responsible for all costs relating to their training, certifications, equipment, and care of their canine.
History
Established in 2007, MSSARDA evolved from a regional chapter of the Tennessee Search & Rescue Dog Association, an all-volunteer, non-profit association whose ideals we continue to embrace. Our parent team, TSARDA was disbanded in 2007 when team leaders moved to a different part of the country. Like TSARDA, MSSARDA’s goal is to help law enforcement, EMS squads, and other SAR K-9 teams by providing a valuable resource in support of their search missions.
Certifications/Training
All Mission-Ready K-9 Teams have met the requirements and been certified through evaluations and testing conducted by the National Association for Search & Rescue (NASAR), and often other respected agencies as well. Each K-9 handler is certified as a NASAR SAR Tech II before certifying with his/her dog as a mission-ready team in their specialized discipline. We do not self-certify. Meet our members.
